Sheila began her professional career in 1986 as a Physical Therapist and Certified Athletic Trainer, specializing in Orthopedics and Sports Medicine. After about a decade, she had settled to Northern Vermont with her husband and young family. Land of rolling green hills, beautiful hiking trails, lakes, mountains, skiing, and she was home! While homeschooling her three children, she happily maintained a private manual physical therapy practice.
In 1997, she attended her first John F. Barnes, PT Myofascial Release Therapy Seminar. Immediately, as she applied this newly learned therapeutic approach, she experienced dramatic results in her patients. She continued steadily and persistently to refine her skills with all seminars and advanced training, later in assisting John at seminars and working in both of his treatment centers. In 2015, with all her now grown children in or through college, she began her full time career as a staff Myofascial Release Physical Therapist in Sedona, AZ, at John’s Therapy on the Rocks treatment center. Her more than 20 years as a Myofascial Release Physical Therapist, training, assisting, and working alongside the most highly trained team of therapists has seasoned her therapeutic artistry to expert level.
Sheila is particularly interested in education, both for patients and therapists, as well as team approach clinical dynamics and assisting all patients in comprehensive, patient-driven empowerment to wellness.
She is delighted to join the highly experienced, dynamic, and wonderful team of therapists at Portland MFR!
