Rachel Wachter, DPT
Oregon License #06655
Rachel is a native to the Pacific Northwest, born and raised in Gig Harbor, Washington. She found a home in Portland in 2011 and put down roots with her husband and 3 children.
In 2009 Rachel earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Western University of Health Sciences following a B.S. in Kinesiology from California State University Northridge. Her immediate passion was working with children, so she began her physical therapy career in pediatrics. She had the privilege of working with children of all ability levels and diagnoses, such as cerebral palsy, genetic disorders, birth injuries, autism, and general orthopedic injuries. She has extensive training in Neurodevelopmental Treatment (NDT), neuroplasticity, biomechanics, gait training, pain neuroscience, myofascial release and women’s health/pelvic floor rehab.
In 2017, Rachel embarked on her journey as a John F. Barnes trained Myofascial Release therapist. She has had the unique opportunity to study with John F. Barnes and be mentored by some of his expert level therapists. She approaches her patients with a holistic, whole mind and body approach. Her treatments are unique as they address all the body’s systems, utilizing long sustained holds into areas that are restricted, soft tissue mobilizations, mobilizations with movement, and therapeutic activities to help restore the body to a painfree, functional state. Rachel specializes in women’s health, pelvic rehab, and chronic pain disorders (but enjoys working with all populations and conditions).
Outside of the clinic Rachel enjoy finding new adventures in Oregon from hiking, biking, boating, rockclimbing and skydiving. She’s happiest when surrounded by her family and nature.
